Almost all children love desserts and sweets. However, as parents, we try to feed them in a healthy and nutritious way, thus avoiding processed products.

Therefore, whenever possible, offer homemade foods made with natural products. Here are 3 cake recipes for children that you can prepare with them and spend time with your family.

1. A classic: the chocolate cake

We started with the king of candy, arguably the favorite of children and adults: chocolate. In fact, the recipe we chose is so simple that they could even make it themselves and the result is spectacular.

Ingredients:

  • 100 g of chocolate icing
  • 3 eggs
  • 9 tablespoons of sugar
  • 60 g of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of flour

Preparation mode:

  1. First, preheat the oven to 180ºC so that it stays on point while you prepare the dough.
  2. Melt the chocolate. To do this, you’ll need to cut it up and then place it in the double boiler or microwave it with a teaspoon of water.
  3. Watch and stir the chocolate with a wooden spoon to prevent it from burning and also to make it melt evenly.
  4. After the chocolate has cooled, add the sugar, melted butter, flour and egg yolks of the three eggs.
  5. Beat the egg whites to a snow point and then add them to the rest of the batter.
  6. Butter the pan and pour in the dough.
  7. Bake for about half an hour at 180ºC.

Once you unmold the cake and let it cool, you can decorate it with icing sugar, fondant or colored chocolate chips.

2. Cheesecake with strawberries (without oven)

If you don’t want children to have contact with the oven, we have the solution. Certainly, this is one of the most successful cake recipes for children that doesn’t need to be baked.

Ingredients:

  • 200 g of cream cheese Philadelphia or similar
  • 500 ml of cream or sour cream
  • 40 g of sugar
  • 1 envelope of unflavored powdered gelatin (7 g approx.)
  • 150g of Mary biscuit
  • 75 g of butter
  • 500 g of strawberry or any other fruit that you want to use in the topping, such as raspberry, blueberry or blackberry, for example.

    Preparation mode:

    1. Crush the cookies : you can put them in a bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
    2. Melt the butter and mix with the biscuits until you get a smooth mixture.
    3. Cover the bottom of a mold with a removable ring with this mixture and press it with the help of a spoon.
    4. Place in refrigerator for 15-20 minutes. Meanwhile, mix the cream, gelatin and sugar and bring to a very low heat, stirring until everything dissolves and preventing it from boiling.
    5. Remove from heat and then add the Philadelphia cream cheese, mixing well.
    6. Pour this mixture into the form with the biscuit base and, when it cools, refrigerate for 6 hours.

    When unmold, put the fruit topping and that’s it!

    3. Red Velvet: a classic in a vegan version

    We want to take everyone into consideration, which is why we also offer cake recipes for children who do not consume any animal products: that is, vegan children.

    Ingredients:

    For the cake:

    • 500 ml of vegetable milk (almonds, oats, rice, soy, etc.)
    • 1 cup of oil coffee
    • 500 g of flour
    • 250 g of sugar
    • 1 envelope of yeast
    • The cooking water of two beets

    For the filling and topping:

    • 250g of vegan cream cheese
    • 90 g of vegetable margarine
    • 100 g of icing sugar
    • 150 g of whipped cream

    To decorate: red fruits

    • raspberries
    • blackberries
    • strawberries

    Preparation mode:

    1. In one container, mix the dry ingredients (flour, sugar and yeast) in one container, and the milk (plus about 12 ml of the water used to cook the beets) and the oil in another.
    2. Also, mix everything until you get a homogeneous mass without lumps.
    3. Grease a mold and pour the dough into it, taking it to bake for 40 minutes at 180ºC. Then let it cool at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
    4. Mix the margarine with the icing sugar and add the cream cheese.
    5. Mix everything and add the whipped cream. Stir again until all ingredients are incorporated.
    6. Now that the cake is cold, divide it into three parts and alternate a layer of cream with a layer of cake.
    7. Use a silicone spatula to cover the entire cake with the cream and to make the surface smooth.
    8. Finally, decorate with the fruits and enjoy!
