Water play  promotes social interaction, spontaneity, creativity and, to some extent, ingenuity. Because they don’t always have everything they imagine, children have to find ways to get what they need for play.

For example, when being in the pool, if children decide to play crocodiles in the swamp, they will not always have all the toys to support their fantasy and therefore will have to resort to what is in their power to complete it.

It is advisable to allow the child to experiment on their own, but  first they should always listen carefully to preventive measures to be considered, for their own safety and that of other children. This way, she can become familiar with the aquatic environment and have fun without any inconveniences. Of course, the child should not be left unattended.

Children's water games

1. Race with a glass of water

To start the game, you must draw two lines: one indicating the start and the other indicating the finish line. Then  divide the children into teams with the same number of participants  and ask them to line up behind the start line.

To start with, there will be only one team member located at the start line. And, as in the classic relay,  the first ones stand at the start line, holding the glass of water, to deliver the glass to the respective partner who is waiting at the finish line.

The objective is to make the route as fast as possible, without spilling too much water from the glass. At the end of the race, the team with the most water in the cup when completing the first round is the winner.

2. Take the scarf

This game is ideal for practicing in any pool and requires great speed. To play, you will need a scarf for each player. The number of players will be limited only by the size of the pool.

Each participant must place a handkerchief on the back of the shirt. The objective of the game is to collect as many scarves as possible, but without losing the scarf itself. The big winner will be the one who manages to get the most tissues.

Those who  lose their scarves must leave the pool immediately while awaiting the next round of play.  On the other hand, handkerchiefs that fall to the bottom of the pool will belong to the first to pick them up.

3. Hit the balloons

Players must be divided into 2 teams of at least 4 players. The first thing that must be done is to give a bucket to the captain of each team and a balloon to each of the other players.

Players must fill the balloons with water, but without tying any knots.  After that, the teams must line up side by side in front of the throwing line.

Each captain must take five steps from the first of his companions, turn to him and hold the bucket firmly over his head. In turn, the members of each team must launch their own open balloons. The objective is for the balloon to fall into the bucket that the captain is holding over his head.

It is worth noting that the captain can move to get the balloon, but he must not take the container from his head.

4. Shoot the balloon

This game can be done either inside the pool or in a garden or patio. Players must organize into two teams of 3-5 participants.

Both teams must face each other 3 or 4 meters from each other if they are playing in a large pool or at both ends if it is an inflatable. Each player will be equipped with a water pistol.

A balloon must be placed in the center of the pool and, after the starting signal, players must aim at the ball in order to move it forward with the water jets launched with the pistols. Thus, the team that manages to put the ball in its corner will be the winner.

For this game, it is important to cooperate and join forces in order to move the ball in the right direction and neutralize the opponents’ shots. There may be pauses to refill the pistols with water.

In short,  water games for children are a set of recreational activities, but also fundamental for physical, social and emotional development. Teach kids to appreciate them!
