Frozen, The Strength Of Love Between Sisters

Since its world debut in 2013, frozen has managed to capture the attention of the entire audience and make itself heard through the popular song
Frozen, the strength of love between sisters

Frozen is a Disney movie that broke many of the fairy tale schemes. This film tells the  story of two sisters and does not focus solely on romantic love, it mainly exalts brotherly love.

What is most striking in this animated feature is that  fraternal love prevails in the face of adversity. Princesses, on the other hand, do not correspond to typical fairy tale roles.

In the myth, an evil ice queen kidnaps a boy, who will be rescued by a friend of his, Gerda. The girl has to go through endless dangers to save her friend, even helped by a set of characters.

Due to its obscure setting and low audience response,  the original idea was discarded. Still, in the 2013 movie we can still find many similar features The Snow Queen.

Frozen: the ice kingdom

Frozen tells the story of Elsa and Anne, the princesses of the kingdom of Arendelle. Elsa has the power to freeze everything she touches and, after accidentally injuring Ana in childhood, decides to isolate herself. Ana doesn’t remember the incident and  believes her sister doesn’t love her.

After her parents’ death, Elsa assumes the throne. Ana decides to marry a supposed prince (Hans) she has just met, but Elsa does not approve of the union. In an explosion of fear,  her powers spiral out of control  and she is exposed to present society. The Duke of Wesselton, uncle of the prince, accuses her of being a monster and she runs away.

Ana arms herself with courage and goes in search of her sister. On the way you will have the help of a young ice collector, Kristoff and his reindeer Sven. Together they will live a multitude of adventures and  meet the snowman Olaf. When they finally find Elsa, she accidentally hurts her sister again.

Kristoff will take her back home to the prince, unaware that Hans is actually the villain in the story. The only way for Ana to recover is to receive an act of love from someone, and Prince Hans refuses to help. When the hoax is discovered,  Elsa confronts Hans.

When Elsa is about to be murdered by Hans, Ana will reappear and stand between them. Just then, it will transform into an ice sculpture. Elsa will realize her sister ‘s great act of love  and will embrace her, and it is this act that will break the curse.

Vital Lessons from Frozen

The message behind Frozen’s main plot is that  brotherly love is magical, unique and special. A sister can teach a life lesson in a few ways:

  1. A sister reminds us that romantic love is not everything in life.
  2. There is no point in idealizing romantic love or chasing after it. Everything comes in its due time.
  3. Sisters exist to love each other, support each other and overcome adversity.

Within the love theme is also Kristoff. It represents real love,  with its flaws and its shadows. While we can appreciate the attraction between him and Ana, she refuses to acknowledge and accept his feelings. Kristoff and her appearance do not match her perception of what love is.

Likewise, the value of sacrifice and the need for self-control are emphasized , lessons that Elsa finds difficult to learn. She is perhaps the loneliest character in the film and the one who most enjoys solitude.

Despite your need for independence, in the end you will change your point of view. You will find that it is possible to maintain your autonomy without having to isolate yourself from the world. It is enough that there is  good communication with others  and that they respect our tastes.

Those who really love us will know how to appreciate our way of being. And if you are a brother or sister, you will not only appreciate our particularities but also admire them.
