Financial problems and the absence of public assistance are among the factors that regularly appear as a justification for late motherhood. Ironically, these causes are the most viable ones to be solved with the right programs and proper attention.
A woman who consciously delays her motherhood to a great extent is avoiding the complications related to this situation. She knows the limitations that will be imposed in relation to work and profession. In addition, maternity represents expenses and commitments that not all are willing to afford. Especially when you know of the father’s frequent abandonment of this type of responsibilities.
For people whose economic livelihood comes from employment, losing or risking their professional position is not an option. A woman who has climbed many steps in the company she works for and finally seems to have won the battle against men in the professional environment is not willing to lose what she has gained. In this sense, we understand that, socially, women’s decision about motherhood involves many responsibilities. For them, therefore, it would mean a setback in advances and the loss of many conquered freedoms.
